5G has arrived. Everyone is enjoying it and is happy with it. But if you have limited internet data. One question that would come to your mind is whether 5G uses more data than 4G?

The answer to this question is a little complex. Ah! It depends on your use. Where do you use the data, and how do you use it? Let me explain.

5G is faster and has less latency than the 4G network. It loaded data at more speed as compared to 4G. So if you are downloading the files, then it is good.

It will use the same amount of data as the size of the file to be downloaded. There it will never consume more data than it.

But if we talk about streaming the content, Video calling, visiting the websites, or online gaming. It will consume more data. Suppose you are watching the videos on youtube. You click on the video.

After a few seconds of playing the video, you realize that the video is of no use to you. And you close it. But before you close the video, a 5-6 minute buffer is already downloaded just because of the faster speed of 5G. And you didn't even know that you spent a lot of data on it.

If you don't know what a buffer is? See this image. I have pointer it in red lines for you.

The same thing happens in Spotify.

When you do video calling on 5G, It consumes a lot of data. The reason is, the Video quality is at its highest level due to the fast internet speed.

Whenever you visit a website, the video advertisement is running at the highest video quality due to the high speed of the internet. For all these reasons, a large amount of data is consumed. And it gives you the illusion that your 5G network consumes more data than 4G.
